Starling

High Dependency Unit / Palliative Care

Starling is our smallest and most intimate unit, with a real focus on meeting the care and social needs of residents with advanced ability limiting conditions, providing for their care & social needs in a person centred way, based on evidence and best practice.

Our purpose built Maximum Dependency Care unit has spacious accommodation for 18 Residents. The large bedrooms are deigned to provide maximum observation and all radiate around the central nurses station. The one bedded areas are designed to provide a peaceful and calm environment. The central sitting area allows Residents to absorb the daily routine in a busy unit. The high profile electric hospital beds allow for maximum comfort and care as well as minimising the risk of pressure area discomfort. Our highly qualified multidisciplinary team will ensure the optimum of care for your loved ones.

The unit is designed to provide maximum observation and all rooms are located in bays that radiate around a central Atrium area where the nurses’ station is located. The Atrium in Starling allows residents to actively interact and socialise, watch T.V. / DVDs, listen to music, and engage in activities. This area is brightly decorated, where the focus of activity and occupation is on multi-sensory stimulation. Located close to Starling is the Oratory, a place for reflection & prayer where residents can spend time in private (appropriately supervised).
