Continuing Care / General Welbeing

This facility has been specially developed to care for the older person long term. The layout of the unit has been maximised to reduce the stresses by living in a safe and secure unit, while benefiting from the internal courtyard as aswell as the surround landscape gardens. All rooms are single, with some of them en suite. In this unit, the emphasis is on programmed actives, where our Activities Manager has carefully selected a structured programme to maximise delivery of care.

This 34 bed unit has been specially developed for residents who require support and assistance with activities of living, and provision of care and services in a homely environment. All rooms are single, with some of them en-suite.

Centrally located within this unit there is an internal secure courtyard & garden area, which catches the sun and is ideal for gardening. There is a dedicated “Potting Area” where Residents with “Green Fingers” are encouraged and supported to actively participate in Gardening Activities appropriate to their ability and interest.

Cormorant also has a small library, where residents can choose to spend time reading, on the internet, or access books. The maintenance of the library and the books is encompassed as part of the activity on the unit, and regularly replenished with books, magazines and other recourses.

Our Occupational therapist, Activity Coordinator and Social care assistant have carefully selected a structured programme to maximise enjoyment and quality of life for the Residents who reside on Cormorant and are reflective of their assessed abilities, and capacity to engage in planned, explanatory or other focused level of activity
