Visiting Hamilton Park

Dear Family Members,

New guidance issued by Hamilton Park Care Facility sets out the parameters for normalising visiting at the facility in line with public health guidance. We have provided support and advocacy services to our residents and their families throughout the pandemic.

Hamilton Park supports and advocates for our vulnerable adults and older people. Visits by family and friends are vitally important for our residents’ health, well-being, and quality of life. However, as the country moves towards further relaxation of restrictions, we understand the need to remain cautious and constantly deal with associated risks concerning COVID-19. Our high rate of vaccination for residents and staff and the excellent infection control measures significantly impact the re-opening of our doors for visitation.

Hamilton Park has considered several essential steps towards re-instating more normal visiting arrangements outlined in the latest guidance, including:

Routine visiting will no longer need to be scheduled in advance. However, the protected meal times should be respected. There is no requirement to have a list of nominated visitors.

Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 or other infectious diseases should not visit the care facility until they are no longer contagious. Visitors will be asked to complete the visitor log book and temperature checking when entering the facility.

Visitors should sanitise their hands with the alcohol gel provided.

Visitors must wear a mask during the entire period of visits.

The duration of the visit should not be limited; however, visitors should be in designated visiting areas such as resident rooms.

Fewer restrictions will apply to residents going on outings or visits outside the care facility. Care plans for each resident consider the risk to them of COVID-19 and the measures in place to minimise the risk while supporting them in participating in the activities of the care facility.

If there is a COVID-19 outbreak, visiting will usually be limited. These limits should be reasonable and in place for as short as possible.

Hamilton Park has a COVID-19 contingency and preparedness plan, including a clearly defined process to ensure that the residents’ right to receive visitors is respected with the lowest practical risk of introducing infection.

Additional Information:

  • 2 visitors are allowed per resident at a time and there is no limit to the frequency and days.

  • Visits should only take place in resident rooms and / or designated visiting room areas.

  • The wearing of masks during visits is still recommended.

Allowing Children for Visitation

  1. Children must be accompanied by their families at all times.

  2. No visitors are allowed in the communal area.

  3. Visits are limited in the residents' bedrooms at this present time.

  4. Follow Infection prevention & control guidelines set by Hamilton Park.

  5. To protect our residents from the risk of infection, please do not visit the facility if you are unwell or have been in contact with someone who may be infectious. This includes illnesses like measles, vomiting, diarrhoea, sore throat, flu or COVID-19.

  6. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, or are awaiting a swab result, you must not attend the facility.
